Enriched Datasets with Economic and Behavioral Data Enable Deep Analysis, Empowering Companies to Make More Informed Decisions Based on Data
SAN MATEO, Calif. & BOSTON–(July 7th, 2020)–AtScale, the leading provider of intelligent data virtualization solutions, today announced it has released new datasets and an accompanying Tableau workbook with prebuilt dashboards for its COVID-19 Cloud OLAP Insights Model. The new, enriched data and workbook will inform organizations about the new normal, empowering users to make better, more informed decisions based on economic, behavioral and COVID-19 insights.
“Our overall goal of enriching our COVID insights model with economic and behavioral data is to not only help organizations tackle the challenges they are facing, but to help better understand where we are on the collective path to normal,” said Chris Lynch, Executive Chairman and CEO, AtScale. “AtScale is in a unique position to make a true difference by empowering people to drive insights from the multitude of publicly and privately available data. I’m proud of our team for creating such a powerful tool that individuals, companies and communities can leverage to aid their decision making.”
The updated model is built to analyze COVID-19 datasets from The New York Times, World Health Organization, Johns Hopkins University, Robert Koch Institute and the Italian Civil Protection Department.
In addition, new economic and mobility data is included to provide a snapshot of society’s “new normal” as phased reopening takes place. This includes data from: Google’s Global Mobility, the Transportation Security Administration’s Checkpoint Travel Numbers, Open Table Reservations, the US Department of Transportations’ Monthly Travel Statistics and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Added dimensions to the model span case types for each COVID-19 model, global and U.S. demographics, as well as time and geography.
Individuals who download the free, public Tableau workbook can quickly visualize a number of insights from the data and use these premade visualizations as the foundation for their own analysis. Existing visualizations show a range of insights, helping answer important questions like:
- How has an increase in mobility impacted the spread of COVID-19?
- Have surges in new cases changed people’s behavior? Is this different across states?
- When will airports be busy again? Are travelers opting for alternative options to planes and public transit?
- How is the restaurant industry recovering?
- Which industries have seen the largest reduction in employment? Which age groups are being affected? Have men been impacted differently than women?
“When there is uncertainty, the majority of people and organizations rely on data and facts to better understand the state of things and the decisions that have to be made,” said John O’Brien, Principal Advisor and CEO at Radiant Advisors. “AtScale’s Cloud OLAP Insights Model provides the data needed for people to best understand the current state of business and the economy to help them make more knowledgeable choices about how they navigate the new normal and to thrive in the post-COVID world.”
AtScale’s Cloud OLAP insights model is available to help organizations and individuals perform multidimensional analysis on datasets from multiple providers. The models provide built-in and easy to use dimensions and measures to help individuals quickly turn this data into information for business decisions, all without the need to prep or engineer data.
“Now more than ever, people need access to timely, trustworthy information that can be easily analyzed,” said Jonathan Libby, Global Technology Alliances at Tableau. “By leveraging AtScale’s COVID-19 data models and the power of visual analytics, organizations like Boston Children’s Hospital are able to make decisions quickly and with confidence, as they help researchers and public health officials uncover valuable insights that inform more data-driven response measures.”
