BOSTON – April 19, 2023 – AtScale, the leading provider of semantic layer solutions for modern business intelligence and data science teams, today shared that it reached the milestone of one billion analytics queries served from cloud data platforms.
This achievement was reached amidst record growth in the volume of queries AtScale orchestrated on behalf of end user analytics applications. The AtScale platform orchestrates analytics queries on cloud data platforms including Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, and Microsoft Azure Synapse. As a result, AtScale recorded a 256% growth in queried terabytes on cloud data platforms orchestrated by its semantic layer platform in the 12 months ending March 31, 2023.
Every time a user updates or interacts with a business intelligence (BI) dashboard, explores data in Microsoft Excel, or refreshes a data application, a query is run against the underlying data being analyzed. AtScale’s semantic layer solution manages analytics queries from common BI tools and applications, pushing down optimized versions of queries for execution on data platforms, while ensuring that analytics are both fast and cost-efficient. This empowers organizations to confidently scale their data and analytics programs, ensuring costs are predictable and align to the value that’s created – all while simplifying data pipelines and enabling governed self-service analytics for customers.
“Leading companies have grown to recognize the criticality of embedding data and AI-augmented analytics into their everyday decision making,” said Christopher Lynch, Executive Chairman and CEO of AtScale. “AtScale’s semantic layer empowers organizations to better leverage data assets managed on powerful cloud data platforms to scale decision intelligence and foster a data culture that can translate to competitive advantage. This milestone we are celebrating is significant, but we are only scratching the surface.”
The Semantic Layer Category Continues to Gain Momentum
There is growing recognition of the role the semantic layer plays in enterprise analytics to help data teams scale business intelligence, embed analytics within a broader set of applications, and capture the value of AI/ML within augmented analytics. AtScale will hold its second annual Semantic Layer Summit on April 26, 2023 with over 10,000 attendees expected, reflecting a 40% increase over last year’s event. Summit sessions include a keynote featuring research on the Semantic Layer in the Modern Data Stack and a panel discussion of founder-executives from dbt Labs, Stardog, Cube, Starburst, and AtScale.
AtScale Retains Position as Leading Independent Semantic Layer for the Enterprise
AtScale has continued its support for the most popular enterprise BI tools, including Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and Google Looker. AtScale also supports API access with both python-based integration to Jupyter notebooks and API integration to data applications. AtScale is the only semantic layer solution that incorporates true dimensional data modeling, a virtualized metrics store with headless BI connectivity to the analytics layer, and cloud workflow orchestration that pushes all data queries and transformations to the underlying cloud data platform. AtScale can deliver speed-of-thought analytics on petabyte scale data managed on public cloud resources. AtScale also recently announced an expanded set of product capabilities for organizations working to accelerate the deployment and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the enterprise.
AtScale has continued to bolster integration and partnerships with leading cloud data platforms over the last 12 months:
- Databricks: AtScale announced its support for Databricks Lakehouse for Manufacturing, and is helping to build semantic lakehouses for a holistic view of production and supply chain efforts. AtScale also expanded its Databricks integration with support for Databricks SQL and availability in Databricks Partner Connect, and is a sponsor of the Databricks Data+AI Summit.
- Snowflake: As part of an expanded partnership, AtScale achieved Snowflake Ready Technology Validation for business intelligence solutions. AtScale is a sponsor of the Snowflake Summit.
- Google: AtScale’s semantic layer solution is now available on Google Cloud Marketplace. AtScale is a sponsor of Google Cloud’s Next ‘23 Conference.
- Amazon: AtScale announced it has joined the AWS ISV Accelerate Program.
Databricks, Snowflake, Google, and Amazon are all participating partners in the Semantic Layer Summit 2023.
